The Volkswagen Diesel Emissions Environmental Mitigation Trust for Indian Tribe Beneficiaries purpose is to fund tribes with money to reduce nitrogen oxides. The Native Village of Port Heiden has received funds from the Volkswagen Mitigation Trust to purchase a new 2021 Dump Truck that will replace one of the older, less fuel efficient trucks. The 2021 International Dump Truck will be built in February of 2020 and shipped to Port Heiden soon after via barge.
